It is with regret and sadness that the Ekurhuleni City Council to announce the passing of one of their own, Councillor (Cllr) Debeila Maserishane.
Cllr Debeila Maserishane was a true community activist. He was born in 1966 in Limpopo and he joined the Democratic Alliance in 2010 and served on various structures. In 2016, he was sworn in as a councillor in Ekurhuleni where he dedicated his life to improving the lives the community.
He was extremely focused on the wellbeing of the community, and more especially the community from which he came from in Tembisa. The love he got from his community in Tembisa was affirmation of the dedication he showed to his community work.
He will be sincerely missed at the Council and by the Tembisa Community.
On Wednesday, an extra ordinary Council sitting took place at the Germiston Civic Centre, which declared a Civic funeral for the late Cllr Debeila Maserishane, in accordance with the Ekurhuleni Council’s Protocol Policy.
The Speaker of Council, Alderman Patricia Kumalo expresses her heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Cllr Maserishane and encourages her community as well as her colleagues to show the bereaved family comfort and support during this trying time.
